With the ever-changing climate of mountain bike technology comes new challenges. For example, traveling with your trusty steed. While in the so-called good-ole´-days, our short wheelbases and 26-inch bikes fit easily into most cases, our beefy 29ers with stretched out geometry and whopping 3.5-inch tires, we find things to be a bit more limited. Fortunately the progressive designers at SciCon have a treat for you with the newly redesigned AeroComfort MTB TSA Bike Case. This soft-sided case offers you a rigid frame to plant your steed on, and space for your beefier bike, with room for up to 29 x 3.5-inch wheels, and extra length to accommodate that slacked-out wheelbase.

The SciCon Aerocomfort is specifically tailored to fit the size and geometry of mountain bikes. Larger 29ers need more height for head tube and front shock clearance, and mountain bike wheels are wider with large, burly tires to boot. The body of the bag was constructed of foam padded, Nylon 840Denier Ripstop. Inside of the bag is SciCon´s Antishock Bike Frame (ABF). Unlike many cases that secure your frame by the front fork only, or not at all, the Antishock frame uses the front fork as well as rear dropouts to attach the bike. This minimizes side to side movement and vibration and perhaps, more importantly, means that you won´t have to search far and wide for the plastic insert for the rear stays that you lose each time you travel. A kit adapter (sold separately) is available to convert the QR/Thru Axles to quick release if necessary.

The shape of the bag accommodates integrated seatposts up to 90cm, and you don´t need to remove your saddle. Additionally, when you remove your handlebars and turn them sideways, a padded protector keeps them from rubbing up against the frame and fork. The SciCon bag contains two internal wheel pockets, one on each side, to house your wheels and a separate pocket for small parts and accessories. The wheel pockets are double padded and an internal strap attaches through your bike´s main triangle holding them parallel to each other. The ABF, ISS, and integrated wheelbags all work in conjunction to create a secure, travel environment for your bike. The case is easily maneuvered through the airport on four wheels. Its pull strap as well as shoulder strap make it easy to pull or pick up. When you are done traveling, it fold to about two-thirds of its size to easily slip in a closet or even under your bed.
