Why We Like The Ibis Exie VT SLX Mountain Bike

Whether we are considering competing in our local race series or just want a bike to rip trail with speed and efficiency, Ibis´s dedicated cross-country race bike is the perfect place to start. The Ibis Exie features 100mm of DW-Link rear travel, giving us an incredibly efficient pedaling bike that was made to handle whatever the modern XC course can throw at it. A modest 67.2-degree headtube angle provides snappy handling on flatter ground while still being down to take on steeper trails. Size-specific seat tube angles ensure an efficient climbing position for all frame sizes, and dual 29-inch wheels easily roll over rocks, roots, and other trail obstacles. Additional features on the Exie frame include two water bottle mounts inside the front triangle, an integrated chain guide for chain retention, sleek internal cable routing for a clean-looking, silent ride, and the ability to fit tires up to 2.4 inches wide.

The Shimano SLX build of the Ibis Exie is the top-end build for this version of the Exie and is peppered with quality components. This version of the Ibis Exie is constructed with a hand-laid carbon frame for a stiff and reliable platform built to the same standards as their more premium USA-made frame but at a fraction of the cost. Shimano´s SLX 12-speed drivetrain sports a wide gear range for conquering any technical climb. Fox´s 120mm Performance 34 Step Cast fork paired with the Fox Performance Float DPS throw down tons of bump-dating traction, and both have climb switches for improved climbing on the steepest hills. Lightweight 29-inch Ibis 933 aluminum rims keep us rolling through rock gardens and over trail obstacles. Shimano SLX brakes are known for their excellent modulation and power in a lightweight, budget-friendly setup.
