Why We Like The Pivot Trail 429 Team XTR Enduro Carbon Wheel Mountain Bike

Slotted as the agile do-it-all ripper within the Pivot lineup, we use the Trail 429 Team XTR Enduro Carbon Wheel Mountain Bike for hard-charging trail rides and post-work jaunts in our backyard Park City trails. With 120mm of DW-Link rear travel, this bike offers an ultra-supportive pedaling feel that urges us to stand up and get on the gas. Thanks to the balanced 66-degree head tube angle in the low position, we can approach faster trail sections with stability without sacrificing the bike´s incredibly maneuverable characteristics. Pivot´s flip-chip technology lets us tweak the bike´s geometry, with a lower BB, slacker angles, and longer feel in the low position that caters to high-speed trails, while the high position caters to efficiency and agility. Pivot specs the Trail 429 with 29in wheels for enhanced rollover abilities, which makes sense considering their bikes are designed in the techy desert terrain near their Phoenix headquarters.

This XTR build boasts Shimano´s top-tier drivetrain with an impressive 10-51t cassette range and ultra-crisp shifting. Carbon Reynolds Blacklabel wheels are paired with Industry Nine Hydra hubs for a reactive feel that also accelerates quickly, perfect for technical or flowing terrain. Thanks to the premium Fox Factory shock and fork, we feel confident tackling techy terrain on this 140mm travel bike thanks to highly adjustable suspension settings. Superboost hub spacing provides a stiff rear end with added durability, and top-spec XTR brakes from Shimano offer reliable braking performance over sustained descents. We wouldn´t hesitate to use this Trail 429 as a downcountry or short-travel trail bike within our fleet or as a quiver of one for riders who stick to high-mileage rides.
