Why We Like The Yeti SB165 C3 GX Transmission Mountain Bike

The same platform seen atop some of freeride mountain biking´s biggest podiums is back and redesigned to be better than ever. The Yeti SB165 is an aggressive, long-travel enduro bike that is now equipped with a mixed-wheel setup and a redesigned frame shape for more capability. With the mullet conversion comes a decrease of 10mm of travel in the fork to maintain the same geometry, keeping the SB165 at a slack 63.5-degree head tube angle and a steep 76.9-degree seat tube angle for all-around performance. 165mm of Switch Infinity suspension combined with slack, aggressive geometry brings us exceptional downhill performance and confidence while maintaining the ability to climb back to the top and do it all over again. The SB165 received a revised 22% progression rate making for more support through the middle part of travel with a steep increase in support at the end for enhanced bottom-out support. The 29-inch front wheel and long wheelbase give us all the confidence we need for steep trails and aggressive riding, while the 27.5-inch rear wheel and short, size-specific chainstays ensure extra clearance, more agility, and faster turning. Taller riders will be stoked to find shorter seat tubes to provide room for longer-stroke dropper posts, and fully enclosed cable routing makes for a silent bike with tidy cable organization. The downtube protector on the SB165 revived an update this year as well, giving us dual-density protection with a removable hard shell (for easier cable routing) layered over rubber for maximum protection. Additional features on the SB165 include a threaded bottom bracket for easier maintenance and SRAM´s Universal Derailleur Hanger for easy replacements.

The C3 GX Transmission build of the Yeti SB165 is fit with quality components to excel on the trail and an electronic drivetrain. Yeti´s C-series carbon fiber frame is built to the same standards as the more premium TURQ carbon fiber, just at a slight weight penalty, and is tested to downhill specifications for worry-free shredding. Next, the SRAM GX Transmission AXS drivetrain gives us precise shifting and an extra durable design for performance on the trails. The Fox Factory DHX2 coil rear shock throws down unrelenting traction through high-speed berms, while the Fox Factory 38, 170mm fork soaks up heavy blows for a smooth ride down. This build is finished with DT Swiss E1900 wheels, premium Maxxis enduro tires, and DT Swiss 370 hubs to ensure performance all over the mountain.
