Why We Like The Specialized Status 2 170 Frameset

The Status is back with a new design, new travel options, and the same old down-for-whatever attitude. The Status 2 now has 10mm moretravel in both the front and rear compared to the previous year, sporting 170mm of FSR suspension travel, complete with a Fox DHX Performance coil shock and revised geometry for more performance all over the mountain. The Status carries over its mixed-wheel setup from the previous model for the best balance of rollover efficiency and agilitybut got an update to its frame shape and geometry. Longer chainstays across the board make the bike more balanced with the frame´s long front end,and a slightly steeper head tube angle ensures the Status is still a hard-charging enduro brawler but with a more centered weight bias. Bike park days are complemented by the flip chip in the chainstay, making our chainstays longer, our bottom bracket lower, and our head tube angle slacker for more confidence and stability on steeper terrain. A refined frame shape and more modern features like integrated downtube protection equip the Status 2 with all the modern performance features to bring us serious value for our money. Plus, Specialized revised their sizing this year, still giving us six sizes, but now with more accurate ranges between sizes and a whole new S0 size to best accommodate the smallest riders.
