We love the La Sportiva Aequilibrium Speed GTX Mountaineering Boot for its lightweight design, all-mountain capability, and technical features. This single boot incorporates a super gaiter to block out snow and water. A GORE-TEX Performance Comfort liner blocks out moisture for additional weather protection, and a polyurethane rand seals up the boot and guards against abrasion. Vibram Dura Step tread uses an Impact Brake System combined with Double Heel technology for tons of grip, traction, and stability on descents, while the Vibram rubber provides grip on wintry terrain. The quick-lace system allows us to quickly tighten our boots with the pull of a cord, and the quick-close gaiter has us ready to go with a zip. These boots are compatible with semi-automatic crampons thanks to the heel welt, letting us beef up our traction when the way gets icy.
